Up, Up, and Away

After taking in a hearty breakfast, we leave for the trailhead. It’s close to our conveniently located inn, so we take a leisurely stroll – greeting pleasant residents as well as storekeepers along the road.

We make a brief stop to appreciate this natural jewel. Several of our group rattles on around the little lake – others lay back as well as take pleasure in the peacefulness.

Treking Amongst Looming Tops

Our path proceeds along a high mountain valley bordered by looming snow-capped optimals. Beautiful Alpenroses develop a wonderful rolling health. We vagrant across a little snowfield – its coolness underfoot contrasts with the glorious heat of the towering sun.

We spy a cairn ahead with the familiar red-and-white route noting repainted on among its rocks. Rounding an edge we identify our lunchtime destination in the distance – a solid Berghaus growing out of the surrounding rocks.

Lunching on the Sonnenterrasse

As we settle ourselves on a rustic, sun-drenched Sonnenterrasse, an alluring smell of frying onions as well as sausages greets us. Lunch is passionate hill fare – plates loaded with Rosti mit Spiegeleier und Fleck (an incredibly gold, crunchy fried potato pancake with egg and also bacon) – offered by a flaxen-haired girl in a traditional, powdery-blue farmer’s smock.

We wash down our tasty lunch with containers of regional beer and gaze out across a large glacier winding its means down in between 2 optimals and also glistening in the sunlight.

Magnificent Views

Well sated, we reclaim our path and soon find ourselves bursting out onto a sloping hill – managing us spectacular views of the valley far below. We see a little district throughout the valley, its sun-burned houses and barns surround a main church spire. A large mountain raises up behind this tranquil scene.

Gradually dropping down a gentle course, we go into a straggle of dwarf want. We’re welcomed by a poignant scent that advises us of the cleanliness of this fantastic environment. The mid-day sunlight is gaining strength as well as it’s an excellent time for us to get in the great loaminess of the lower woodland. We adhere to the side of a plunging glacier-fed creek – its frostiness revitalizes the air around us.

Warm Sunlight as well as the Smell of Hay

We clatter across an old wooden bridge – it’s a surface area well worn by generations of cows being driven to Towering meadows. In the lower fields, regional farmers are collecting hay with big wooden rakes. A comforting, sun-rich smell of dried grasses greets us.
